Some things we got wrong
The world was once considered flat.
Titanic was sinkable after all
Dewey never defeated Truman
Nixon was indeed a crook
Al Gore did not invent the internet
The Tonkin Gulf Incident never happened
WMDs were never found in Iraq
Benghazi was not caused by an anti-Muslim film
What can you add to the list?
Sandy Hook
Children and teachers actually did die at Sandy Hook.

Columbus did not discover America nor prove that the world was round.

Bingo!
I believe America had already been discovered before Columbus by the people who crossed the Bering Strait and were already living there for thousands of years.
Scholars claim that Portuguese fishermen had been visiting Cape Cod long before Columbus. (But they weren’t talking)
And then there’s Leif Erickson circa 1000AD.

Hmmm. Not sure why – it worked fine previously. But, you’re correct- it is assumed that Vikings were actually the first foreign people to step foot on American soil

From the link: And here’s something he did do that you may not know:
Columbus was a brutal viceroy and governor of the Caribbean islands on which he did land. He committed atrocities against native peoples on the islands and decimated their populations while he also terrorized Spanish colonists, according to the biography “Columbus” by Laurence Bergreen.

Letter: Women, you’re the problem

Good letter.
I’m all for a matriarchy, provided it’s governed by “real” women. Indira Gandhi and Angela Merkel and other “strong” women are just men in drag, as you put it. Hillary is something different altogether. I think that if she were elected, we’d be at war with Russia already.
BTW, I voted for a woman in November: Jill Stein.
France might elect a woman soon, but Marine Le Pen is “alt-right”.
Who the hell are you to
Who the hell are you to determine what constitutes a “real woman?” I’m sick of seeing this shit from backwards-thinking assholes. Pointing to world leaders who are women and saying they are “men in drag” because they have characteristics that are traditionally masculine is asinine and an insult to women; men too. Stereotypical gender norms are outdated at best. Why should some old white guy be the judge of whether I’m a real woman or not?
The most intransigent, old-guard patriarchs
Thanks tomaidh –
While it’s pretty much untried in our history, I agree that I’m all for a matriarchy, as well, provided it’s, as you say, “real” women (whatever that might be).
The problem, also as you know, with the heavyhanded several thousand years of patriarchy under the Jukrislims is that it was menfolk who distorted what gender roles should be by making women essentially chattel. I sometimes wonder if humans will survive long enough to turn it all around. Either a matriarchy or true gender equality is much preferred over what we have now.
By the way, some of the most intransigent, old-guard patriarchs I’ve ever met were women. (I’m referring to predominately white or black women in America. I have little experience with Muslim women. Although, since I haven’t found any stats on black voting patterns, I do know that it’s reported that 53 million white women voted for Trump. That’s a very troubling statistic.)

The third of April has passed, yet the earth, in this region at least, is wrapped in snow instead of fire, as some of our friends, the Millerites, have predicted. So far from burning up, we have been in great danger of freezing to death.
