Construction Update
Brattleboro-Hinsdale
BF A004(152)
DATE: Thursday, August 15, 2024
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Construction traffic will continue to enter and exit the work zone from Vermont Route 142 and Depot Street. Travelers heading east on Vermont and New Hampshire 119 are reminded of the recently established traffic pattern partially on the new alignment of the road shortly after leaving Vermont.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Removal of the temporary trestle over the CT River and alongside the new bridge has begun. Because of this, the diesel hammer has been brought back on site and nearby residents and workers can expect the noise to be heard intermittently between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday from now into the Fall.
At the Vermont abutment, concrete for the VT approach slab is now in and crews will begin to work on the expansion joint next week. Under the bridge, work is continuing on the final clean up of the Barrows and Fisher yard. Bridge overhang work for sidewalks and copings/curb will continue over the coming weeks as crews work east to west.
LOCATION:
The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.
Unanticipated delays at a couple of the piers have adjusted the project completion date from Fall 2024 to Summer 2025.
PROJECTED COMPLETION: June 30, 2025
