Guilford Town Meeting includes Childcare & More!

The Town of Guilford will hold its annual Town Meeting on Tuesday, March 3 at the Guilford Central School gym. The Meeting will be convened at 10:00 am, at which time polls will open for Australian balloting.

This year, balloting will take place both for local offices and for the U.S. Presidential Primary. Polls will close at 7:00 p.m.

Free childcare will be provided starting at 9:30 am, and continuing until 1:30 p.m. So that the providers will know about how many children to expect, it is requested that parents contact Laura Lawson Tucker ahead of time to give an idea of how many will be using the service.

Many of you have marched in the streets; here is another way to change what matters to you. Have you ever been frustrated that your elders choose candidates? A barrier has been removed. Did you know that VT is one of 21 states allow underage voting in presidential primaries and 16 states allow it in congressional
primary voting?

“Well, umm, it’s the law . . . .“

How to Watch Harris Hill on BCTV?

Big front page story in Ref this am about all the prep for & equipment & etc to “broadcast” today’s Harris Hill Ski Jump o BCTV.  Many of us, of course, aren’t on cable (not available here) so I thought I’d try the online live stream.  Clicked on the link given in the Reformer article & got an error message.

Been poking around on the BCTV site — found the 2019 jump!  But can’t find today’s — if it’s really there.

Brattleboro’s Seasonal Overflow Shelter Opens Monday, November 18th

BRATTLEBORO, VT—Brattleboro’s Seasonal Overflow Shelter (SOS) will open Monday, November 18th.  After a successful first and second season located at the upper dormitory on the Winston Prouty campus (formerly the Austine School for the Deaf), Groundworks’ staff and Board are grateful for the opportunity to return to the space for a third year.

This year’s shelter will operate the same as prior years at this location: anyone seeking shelter will have to register for a bed through Groundworks Drop-In Center (at 60 South Main Street) between 9am and noon.  Access to the shelter will only be permitted through transportation provided by Groundworks.
