Brattleboro Bridge Replacement Project Update: Week of March 27

I-91

Northbound I-91 traffic has been relocated onto the southbound bridge. Traffic will remain reduced to one lane in each direction on I-91 until completion of the new bridge. The new bridge will be 104’ wide and is designed to carry all four lanes of traffic –two northbound and two southbound.

Route 30

The speed limit on Route 30 near the work zone has been reduced to 40 mph. Project-related truck activity on Route 30 will continue. Route 30 may be reduced to a single lane intermittently, with flaggers regulating traffic within the work zone.


Green Street Retaining Wall Construction

Renaud Brothers of Vernon, Vermont has been awarded the contract to rebuild the Green Street Retaining Wall. Construction on the Green Street Wall will begin during the week of March 21st. We anticipate that the project will be complete within 60 days. Public Works will release periodic updates for this project.

Emergency services, delivery vehicles, pedestrians, and local traffic will NOT be permitted through the closure during the construction season. Please seek an alternate route.

Upper Dummerston Road Open Tuesday

Due to permitting restrictions associated with Town Meeting Day, we will not be closing Upper Dummerston today to erect bridge girders. Tomorrow’s forecasted weather will likely restrict this work as well. It is anticipated that the next closure of Upper Dummerston will be Thursday.

Upper Dummerston Road Closures: Mon, Tues, and One More Day This Coming Week

The project team is now planning to close Upper Dummerston Road from 7:00 am-5:00 pm on Monday 2/29, and from 7:00 am to 5:00 PM Tuesday, 3/1 for beam erection.

At approx. 9:00 am on Monday, 2/29, two tractor trailer loads are scheduled to come from I-91 Exit 3 south on Putney Road around the Retreat Park to VT 30 and then to Upper Dummerston Road. This is may cause some minor delays in the downtown area. The remaining loads are expected to come from US RT 7 and VT RT 30 to Upper Dummerston Road, thereby avoiding downtown Brattleboro.

A total of three work days with Upper Dummerston Road closed are needed this coming week to complete the work.

This work will be rescheduled if there is any precipitation or adverse road conditions.

Upper Dummerston Road Closure tomorrow (Friday) 7:00AM to 5:00PM for Beam Erection.

Upper Dummerston Road will be closed for two more days, perhaps starting Monday, if weather permits.

Upper Dummerston Road Closings

The project team is planning to close Upper Dummerston Road tomorrow morning, February 22 at 8:00 am. Due to the weather that may be coming tomorrow night and lasting through Thursday, we MAY open the Upper Dummerston Road tomorrow night and then close it again for a day or two when we can resume erection later this week or early next week. We will keep you posted as plans develop.

Please take notice that Brattleboro Museum & Art Center whose address is 10 Vernon Street, Brattleboro, VT is applying to the Vermont Brownfields Reuse and Environmental Liability Limitation Program (10 V.S.A. §6641 et seq.) in connection with the redevelopment of property known as 11 Arch Street in the Town of Brattleboro.

A copy of the application, which contains a preliminary environmental assessment and a description of the proposed redevelopment project is available for public review at the Brattleboro Town Clerk’s Office and at the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation offices in Montpelier.


I-91 Closings December 8 & 9 – Reminder

Reminder:

I-91 between Exits 2 and 3 will be closed to complete preventative maintenance before the winter season begins in earnest.

On Tuesday, December 8, I-91 SOUTHBOUND will be closed between exits 3 & 2 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

On Wednesday, December 9, I-91 NORTHBOUND will be closed between exits 2 & 3 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

Traffic officers will be on hand to detour traffic onto Route 5.


Noticed Around Brattleboro – December 2015 Edition

Lots of little changes going on around town, and it is time for us to catalog them. Here are a few to get us started:

– Robert at Zephyr Designs on Main Street is retiring, according to a sign in the window.

– Main Street has some nice, large lit stars on display at night in addition to all the decorated windows. They look to be about 8 or 10 feet across, each.
