The Brattleboro Selectboard has again implemented a mask mandate for indoor public spaces around town, including bars and restaurants.
They also voted to invite the public to attend their meetings at Central Fire Station rather than from across town at the Municipal Center.
The Town of Brattleboro is looking for feedback as we redesign our website. If you are interested in being a part of a focus group to discuss items such as website navigation, content, and design please submit your name to Sue Fillion, Planning Director at sfillion@brattleboro.org or call 802-251-8112. The focus group will be 1.5 hours long and take place during the month of December. Participants will be able to participate on Zoom or in person at the Municipal Center. Focus group participants will receive a small stipend for their time.
The Brattleboro Town Clerk’s office will be closing from 9:30am to 10:30am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 for a staff meeting. All other offices in the Municipal Center will remain open during normal business hours.
In Observance of Thanksgiving all Town Offices will be closed on Thursday, November 25, 2021, and Friday, November 26, 2021, with the exception of emergency services.
Brooks Memorial Library will close at 6:00pm on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. They will be closed on Thursday, November 25, 2021, but will remain open during normal business hours on Friday, November 26, 2021.
Trash and recycling WILL NOT be picked up on Thursday, November 25, 2021. All trash and recycling pick-up will be delayed by one day all week.

The Brattleboro Citizens Police Communications Committee will meet on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 5:30pm at the Brooks Memorial Library Meeting Room.
The Brattleboro Human Services Committee will meet on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 1:00pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.

At the first regular meeting in-person at Central Fire Station the Brattleboro Selectboard discussed funding requests for the downtown organization and SeVEDS, then looked deeply at planned capital improvements, including new plans for Living Memorial Park on the horizon.
The board also contemplated using infrastructure funds to replace all the sidewalks in town.

The Brattleboro RTM Steering Committee wants to understand how the annual town meeting is moderator by our Town Moderator, because this information will help committee’s work on suggesting improvements for our town meeting process. We think that this event may be
interesting for anyone who is a member of RTM, or who may be interested in becoming a member, or who is interested in how our town meeting works.

Budget season continues for the Brattleboro Selectboard at their next regular meeting which, by the way, will be the first to be held at Central Fire Station. For this meeting, the Downtown Brattleboro Alliance will offer up their proposed budget and workplan for FY23, SeVEDS will do the same, and the board will take a deeper look into equipment replacement, capital projects, and planning for major improvements to Living Memorial Park.
You can bring up other items not on the agenda during public participation.
The Brattleboro Parking Department would like to advise everyone that the winter parking ban will go into effect, starting Monday, November 15, 2021. Overnight parking is forbidden on all streets in the town of Brattleboro. Vehicles parked for longer than one (1) hour between 11:00pm and 07:00am may be ticketed and towed at the owners expense.

In observance of Veterans’ Day, all Brattleboro Town Offices will be closed on Thursday, November 11, 2021, with the exception of emergency services.
Parking is free at all metered spaces and in the pay-and-display lots on Thursday, November 11. All other violations will be enforced.
The Brattleboro Selectboard kicked off their FY23 budget season with an overview of the proposed town budget by Town Manager Peter Elwell. Questions were limited at this meeting, allowing the board and the public to take in a broad overview. Deep dive questions begin next week.
One of the lengthier passages in this meeting was a discussion of prepaid assigned funds compared to unassigned funds and how they both are accounted for legally and financially.
Governor Scott Announces $9.9 million in grants to Accelerate Broadband Buildout in Four Vermont Communication Union Districts
Montpelier, Vermont – The Vermont Community Broadband Board (VCBB), along with the Governor, Congressman Welch and other state and federal officials and representatives of many of the state’s Communications Union Districts, celebrated the awarding of $9.9 Million in Preconstruction Grants to four Communication Union Districts (CUDs) in an event in Montpelier Monday. The Districts represent 64 Vermont towns and villages.
Governor Scott celebrated the investment, “We all know how important broadband is to Vermonters and our economy. Connectivity is essential to our everyday lives, the way we do business, and how we stay connected with family and friends. Making investments in this critical infrastructure will allow us to grow in all 14 counties and help us retain and attract more workers, and I’m excited this work is moving forward.”
