One of the topics covered by Senate Government Operations is public safety. Terrace Street will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 12, 2017 and continuing intermittently for approximately three weeks, from 7:00am to 5:00pm to prepare for paving. The Department of Public Works is upgrading the drainage and also making sidewalk repairs in this area. Vehicular access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project.

Construction on the new Police Station is complete and the department will soon be operating out of the new building. The Town of Brattleboro and the Police Department personnel are proud of the new station and invite the public to tour the facilities, meet the Police Officers, and attend the Ribbon Cutting and “Button Pushing” ceremonies.

The Brattleboro Selectboard returned from summer break to a full agenda and long meeting. A continued discussion of panhandling provided updates on efforts now underway as well as a new suggestion for a sign explaining “the rules.”
At approximately 4:15pm a strong thunderstorm moved through the area with very gusty winds. The storm brought down numerous trees and power lines, mostly centered in an area of Putney Rd from the Veterans Bridge north to the town line.
The Brattleboro Selectboard will meet again on September 5, returning to business and signifying the end of summer break for all of us. There’s quite a bit of business, too.
The Brattleboro Energy Committee will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 5:00pm in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.
In observance of Labor Day, all Town offices will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2017, with the exception of emergency services.
