Brattleboro (though not a city) has made it to the list of coolest cities in the U.S.:

Many of these families still exist, such as the Habsburgs, the Hohenzollern, House of Orange-Nassau, and the Battenbergs (Anglicized to Mountbatten, AKA Windsor).

And they’re still extremely wealthy.

Alice Charkes is offering two Everyday Bicycling workshops this week. They will take place in the back parking lot at the Brattleboro Food Coop. They are free! Come to one or both!

Anyone out there a valued Fairpoint DSL custumer, like us?  Our eternally-poor service got even poorer on Friday night when we lost internet — turns out a system failure that is apparently affecting other users around the state.  It was still off this a.m.  Wondering if anyone else has any news about it?  Unlike Green Mtn Power, which is quite good at sharing outage info, Fairpoint has no place on its website for this, & their tech people are very careful not to reveal anything.

I’ve been called several times from the “U.S. Government Grant Dept.” in Washington DC, informing me that I have been selected to receive a $7000 grant that I “will never have to pay back”.  The callers speak strange English. Not Indian Maybe Philippine.

This bicycle has been abandoned (probably stolen) behind the Elliot Apartments on Spring Street. It has been there for about a month.

Strolling of the Heifers is seeking volunteers to help make Stroll Weekend a success, and still has room for a few more vendors at its Expo. 

Strolling of Heifers Weekend takes place June 3-5, with the agriculturally-themed parade scheduled for Sat., June 4 at 10 a.m. in downtown Brattleboro. 

The Stroll is always looking for volunteers to help out in a multitude of ways at all events, including the Friday evening Street Festival (June 3), the Parade and Expo (June 4) and the Tour de Heifer (June 85), as well as at other events year-round.  

Prospective volunteers should contact Vicki Friedman, volunteer coordinator, at vicki@strollingoftheheifers.com. They may also stop in to see her at the Strolling of the Heifers River Garden, 157 Main Street in Brattleboro; or phone her at 802-246-0982 (leave a message if she is not in). Alternatively, a volunteer registration form may be found at .
