Can anyone help me solve this horrible problem? I have a laptop (HP) 5 years old. I recently noticed on the bottom right of the screen where it used to say “windows 7”, that it suddenly read :

Windows 7 Professional Test mode
Windows 7 Build 7600

So here’s my idiot of the century mistake explained;

My curiosity led to one thing after another and I found myself at a tech blog trying to understand what may have happened to create this change. I never did find out because I went only so far before reading some instructions on how to remove that message which required downloading a program .. Said to be from Microsoft.. Called “fix it”.

I have a wide variety of books that I would like to sell.  Where is the best place to do so in Brattleboro?

Same question for CDs and DVDs – is Turn it Up the only place in town for those items?

Washer and dryer both acting up and need troubleshooting and possible repair. Does anyone do this sort of thing around here any more? They’re not all that old, hate to replace them if they’re fixable.

What is your position on Smart Meters in particular wired vs no wired technology? Could you share with the voters what you know about them?

During last year’s race for District 3 representative, there was a vigorous discussion here on iBrattleboro about the character of one of the candidates, that she was deceptive in characterizing her role in an earlier campaign, and then when a radio personality questioned her about it, she proceeded to attack him, and then, writing directly to his bosses, she attacked his job.

The question itself was never fully answered, but the controversy did reveal quite a bit about the candidate.

Is this character reference relevant to the upcoming election, or is it old news?

My small business is planning to launch an e-commerce site in the next few months and is looking into shopping cart options.   I’m wondering if anyone has done recent research on the pros and cons of the various tools out there.  Initially, the number of products offered will be fewer than 20 and we’ll probably use PayPal for the financial transactions.  Simple integration with QuickBooks would be nice.  Can anyone help us out?
