Construction Update Brattleboro-Hinsdale Bridge – March 14, 202

Construction Update

Brattleboro-Hinsdale

BF A004(152)

DATE: Friday, March 14, 2025

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

An eastbound shoulder operation on the new bridge deck for New Hampshire/Vermont Route 119 will require a flagger-controlled lane closure with one-way alternating traffic patterns. Travelers may encounter short delays.

Flaggers will also be present at the entrance to 28 Vernon Street to assist traffic entering and exiting the facility.

Bridge lights are now fully functional with completed solar panels.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

The contractor will be staging equipment in the eastbound shoulder on the bridge deck to access and work on the piers. This will require a lane closure.

The electrical subcontractor will be on site next week to install the two remaining solar lights in Vermont at the entrance to 28 Vernon Street. Flaggers will assist traffic as needed in this location.

An additional crew will be working under the bridge on a closed drainage system at the Robert’s Energy facility (previously Barrows and Fisher).

LOCATION:

The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.

The bridge opened to motor vehicle traffic on December 4th, 2024. It will open to pedestrian traffic in Spring 2025.

PROJECTED COMPLETION: June 30, 2025
