Construction Update
Brattleboro-Hinsdale
BF A004(152)
DATE: Friday, February 14, 2025
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Westbound shoulder closures on the new bridge deck for New Hampshire/Vermont Route 119 will be in place as needed.
Pedestrians on the twin bridges (Old NH/VT 119) will be able to continue to use the bridges, but should be aware of increased construction vehicle traffic through the corridor.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Road and drainage work previously conducted on Mountain Road has been completed for the winter. Crews will return to this location in the Spring.
On the bridge deck, the contractor will be removing materials to complete the form removal from the shoulder operation. They will continue to work out of the road on clean-up operations under the bridge.
Additional clean-up work is scheduled for this month on the island between the old truss bridges. Pedestrians will still be able to get through the work zone, but should be aware of construction vehicles accessing this area.
LOCATION:
The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.
The bridge opened to motor vehicle traffic on December 4th, 2024. It will open to pedestrian traffic in Spring 2025.
PROJECTED COMPLETION: June 30, 2025
