Construction Update
Brattleboro-Hinsdale
BF A004(152)
DATE: Friday, December 6, 2024
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
The new bridge for New Hampshire/Vermont Route 119 is now open. Motorists should use caution while navigating the new traffic pattern. Pedestrians should continue to use existing accommodations on the old bridges as the new bridge will remained closed to pedestrians until Spring of 2025.
On days when the weather is good enough to work on the bridge deck, crews will be working under a shoulder closure. Otherwise, no interruptions to NH/VT 119 and Vermont Route 142 traffic are planned for next week.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
All operations will progress over the winter as the weather allows. Clean up operations that include the removal of brackets under the bridge will advance. Some drainage work on/under the bridge is also scheduled to begin to be installed. These operations will be conducted under shoulder closures with advance warning signs in place.
LOCATION:
The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.
The bridge opened to motor vehicle traffic on December 4th, 2024. It will open to pedestrian traffic in Spring 2025.
PROJECTED COMPLETION: June 30, 2025
