BF A004(152)
DATE: Thursday, December 12, 2024
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Daily shoulder closures will be in place on the new bridge deck for westbound New Hampshire/Vermont Route 119. On Wednesday, December 18th there may be short delays and one-way alternating traffic patterns staffed with flaggers in New Hampshire on NH 119.
Pedestrians should continue to use existing accommodations on the old bridges as the new bridge will remained closed to pedestrians until Spring of 2025.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Crews are continuing to clean up and remove forms on the bridge under a shoulder closure as weather allows. Advance warning signs for the shoulder closure will be in place to notify the traveling public of the operation. Permanent pavement markings are tentatively scheduled on NH 119 for Wednesday, December 18th just east of the new bridge. This work is weather dependent and will result in short delays and one-way alternating traffic.
LOCATION:
The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.
The bridge opened to motor vehicle traffic on December 4th, 2024. It will open to pedestrian traffic in Spring 2025.
