Construction Update Brattleboro-Hinsdale Bridge – September 6, 2024

Construction Update

Brattleboro-Hinsdale

BF A004(152)

DATE: Friday, September 6, 2024

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

One-way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers can be expected on Vermont Route 142 as they build the intersection for the new bridge. Motorists should watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Work is progressing steadily at the Vermont abutment while crews continue to work on the expansion joint and on moment slabs/sidewalks adjacent to VT 142.

Over the river, the overhang work with copings/sidewalks is progressing from east to west toward Vermont. Removal of the temporary trestle continues as does the intermittent sound of the diesel hammer.

LOCATION:

The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.

Unanticipated delays at a couple of the piers have adjusted the project completion date from Fall 2024 to Summer 2025.

PROJECTED COMPLETION: June 30, 2025
