Construction Update Brattleboro-Hinsdale Bridge June 7, 2024

Construction Update

Brattleboro-Hinsdale

BF A004(152)

DATE: Friday, June 7, 2024

TRAFFIC IMPACT:

Motorists should be vigilant as the large crane stationed at the bridge abutment alongside Vermont Route 142 is scheduled to be disassembled and removed beginning next week. Construction vehicles will continue to enter and exit the work zone off of VT 142.

Due to current work on New Hampshire Route 119 associated with the project, the eastbound lane shift on NH 119 shortly after traveling over the twin bridges remains active. Signs and barrels remain in place to assist motorists through the work zone.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

All the deck panels are installed! Work on the remaining overhang formwork, shear studs and grout, and placing rebar continues to progress toward the Vermont abutment. It will continue for several more weeks.

LOCATION:

The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.

Unanticipated delays at a couple of the piers have adjusted the project completion date from Fall 2024 to Summer 2025.

PROJECTED COMPLETION: June 30, 2025
