Windham Regional Woodlands Association Scholarship Awards

Windham Regional Woodlands Association has awarded scholarships totaling $6,000 to two Brattleboro Union High School graduates who will attend college this fall. This year’s recipients are Samuel Stevens of Brattleboro, who will attend Green Mountain College, and Tanner Bell of Guilford, who will attend Unity College in Maine.


On Exhibit at Brooks Library

“The Back of Brattleboro,” (2005) by Terry Sylvester, is on extended display at Brooks Memorial Library as part of our renovation celebration! We hope you will come to see it in person!


Free Public Readings: Marlboro College Summer Writing Intensive

Marlboro College’s summer writing intensive connects writers who are just starting out with writers who have made a career out of the craft. Authors will be reading excerpts of their work Monday July 31 – Friday August 4th at 5 pm in the library’s main room. All of the readings are free! Marlboro’s Summer Writing Intensive this year will include a series of free, public readings by celebrated writers with military connections.


VFW Lunch Specials July 24th – July 28th

The Brattleboro VFW at 40 Black Mountain Road is open to the public for lunch. Lunch is served Mon – Fri from 11:30-1:30 pm. Specials listed below are only $6 a plate. Hand made burgers, fries, onion rings, chicken wings, soups and sandwiches are also available. Take out available by calling 257-0438


SeVWA’s 2017 E. coli Monitoring of Local Rivers Continued July 19th

The Southeastern Vermont Watershed Alliance (SeVWA) continued its monitoring program for the summer of 2017 on Wednesday, July 19th. Volunteers this year are collecting samples from 34 sites on nine rivers and streams every other week through the end of August. This year, we have sites on the West River, Flood Brook, North Branch Ball Mountain Brook, Rock River, Williams River (including the Middle Branch), Saxtons River, East Putney Brook, Sacketts Brook, and Whetstone Brook.


Bonnyvale Road Closure

Starting Monday, July 24th Bonnyvale Road will be closed to through traffic from Mather Road to Western Avenue while we replace a failing retaining wall for approximately four weeks. Through traffic will be detoured on to Mather Road and Greenleaf Street. Residents within the closure will still have access to their homes.
