A short rant about the way I look at the new police facility.
A brief community memorial service will take place on Thursday August 6th from 5:30-6:00 at the Hospice Memorial Garden located at Living Memorial Park in Brattleboro. The short program will consist of brief reflections on grief and loss, an opportunity to decorate a memorial stone to place in the garden or take home, and some quiet time to enjoy the beauty of the garden. Everyone is invited to this free event. The “First Thursdays in the Memorial Garden” program will be repeated on September 7th. The facilitator is Connie Baxter, Brattleboro Area Hospice Bereavement Program Coordinator.
A few midsummer grants and bids will be considered at the next Brattleboro Selectboard meeting, scheduled for Tuesday August 1 at the Municipal Center. (You remember the Selectboard, right?)
The Brattleboro Energy Committee will meet on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 5:00pm in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.

Brattleboro High School is hoping to host 10 international exchange students this fall, who arrive in the area next month. Some are still in need of hosts who could welcome them to the area for even just the first couple of months of their stay. Could you open up your heart and home to one of these students, such as:
A significant project to improve the Harmony Parking Lot is about to get underway. The scope of the project includes replacing all sidewalks and curbing adjacent to the buildings, new concrete walkways and tree grates in the islands, leveling to improve drainage, new pavement, and fresh paint. The work will be performed in phases so that either the east side or the west side of the Harmony Lot will be available for public parking during the majority of the estimated five week project.

The Marlboro community will hold its 60th annual Summer Benefit Sale on Saturday, July 29 from 9am to 3 pm. in the Town Center, 510 South Rd., Marlboro, Vermont. This event began as a benefit for the Marlboro Community Club in the mid-1960’s and has been held annually until 2005 when it was continued by the Marlboro Alliance. Used clothing for children, men and women will fill the Meetinghouse Church and home-baked goods and refreshments will be for sale on the Meetinghouse lawn.
