It is free to join the Dummerston Perennial Swappers. New gardeners can come and get free perennials and advice from seasoned gardeners who have too much of one thing or another and would rather share the wealth than throw perfect plants into a compost heap. We meet every two weeks in the growing season. Then we tour a local garden.

A significant project to improve the Harmony Parking Lot is about to get underway. The scope of the project includes replacing all sidewalks and curbing adjacent to the buildings, new concrete walkways and tree grates in the islands, leveling to improve drainage, new pavement, and fresh paint. The work will be performed in phases so that either the east side or the west side of the Harmony Lot will be available for public parking during the majority of the estimated five week project.

Do you like trees? They reduce energy use, provide erosion control, and help control storm water runoff. The Brattleboro Tree Advisory Board is short-handed and needs two new members. If you are a resident of Brattleboro, and want to help us look after the Town’s trees, fill out the online application at the Town’s website: > Serving the Community > Boards and Committees > Application. (Don’t be intimidated by the application; it’s an all-purpose document. If you have questions about it, Jan Anderson at 251-8100 can help.)

With criminal corporate monopoly media masking the US created prosecutable genocide ongoing in Yemen, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan by focusing attention on Russia, fantasized as a dangerous enemy needing military confrontation, it might be a good time to review past US planned, facilitated and at times perpetrated genocidal crimes in Russia. History in context kind of puts to rest all the hype about evil Russia seeking to expand when it already is the largest country in the world spanning nine time zones with only half the population of the US to fill it.
