Cantrip and Lindsay Straw at Next Stage on Saturday, April 21

PUTNEY –  Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present an evening of traditional and contemporary Celtic music featuring high energy bagpipes/fiddle/guitar trio Cantrip and folksinger/multi-instrumentalist Lindsay Straw at Next Stage on Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 pm.  The concert celebrates Cantrip’s 20th anniversary, with the band performing a mix of brand new music, as well as their entire 2001 album “Silver.”

From the strong base of its Celtic roots, Cantrip branches out into the music of other European cultures.  Weaving together songs and tunes, Dan Houghton, Jon Bews and Eric McDonald take an audience on a cultural journey, putting their own spin on each style.  Known for their innovative arrangements, un-produced sound and dry wit, Cantrip has toured throughout Scotland and the US, expanding the boundaries of Celtic music along the way.

Why Not Emphasize Assad Had No Motive To Use Gas! He Had Defeated the Terrorists Sent by USA

DESCRIPTION: Why Not Emphasize That Assad Had No MOTIVE To Use Gas When He Already Defeated the Terrorists Sent and Armed by USA and Saudi Arabia, While Assad’s Enemies Had a Reason to Stage a Gas Attack To Give USA a Pretext To Bomb Yet Again.

TEXT:
This short alert is written in dedication to my readers in nations that have been invaded or bombed by Americans in uniform.

When a crime is reported or discovered, the first thing investigators look for is someone with a MOTIVE to have committed the crime – someone who stood to gain from committing the crime.

Vermont AFSCME: Collective Bargaining Rights Under Attack!

By Karl Labounty

As President of AFSCME Local 1343 and as Vice President of the Vermont AFL-CIO, I take the rights of working people seriously.  Like most Vermonters, I believe our democracy is best served when workers have more (not less) opportunities to vote on the issues which directly impact their lives.  I myself labor for the Burlington School District as part of their maintenance staff.  My fellow union members serve as custodians, bus drivers, food service workers, as IT specialists, and in number of other critical positions.  In short, we are the backbone of public services. As a union member I take pride in the fact we democratically elect the bargaining teams that negotiate our contracts, and no contract is final until it is voted on by our members and approved by elected representatives of our communities.  This, in part, is what it means to have workplace democracy, and this is a right that many generations of Vermonters have benefited from.

Adapting Corporate Apologies For Use By Children

Corporate America seems to have a new formula for “apologizing” when they’ve done something bad and need to improve their PR.  We’ve seen it recently with Facebook and Starbucks.

“Even though we’ve done wrong,” they say, “trust us to make it better. You should expect more.” Note that this only comes after being caught.

It sounds great, doesn’t it? They realize the error and will make sure it never happens again.

If it works for CEO’s, then it should work for children.

Discovering Hypnosis in Brattleboro

Hypnosis, a good remedy for many of life’s difficulties, is now easily available in Brattleboro. But, what is hypnosis anyway? It is a state of deep relaxation where your subconscious mind is open to positive suggestion. The hypnotic state is a natural state – one that we are all familiar with. It’s the state between being awake and sleeping, feels a lot like dreaming, and is a state of deep relaxation. It’s like the cozy, peaceful feeling you have just before falling asleep. Actually, it’s a very heightened state, in spite of the fact that you feel relaxed. You are much more aware of your surroundings and any noises or distractions, but you will be blissfully unconcerned because you are so relaxed.

Vermont Labor Relations Board – In Opposition to Confirmation

An open letter to Senators White & Balint,

It is my understanding that the appointment of Karen O’Neill as a “neutral” on the Vermont Labor Relations Board is pending confirmation by Senate. I am writing in opposition to that appointment.

The applicable law states that “‘Nominees with neutral backgrounds’ means individuals in high standing not connected with any labor organization or management position, and who can be reasonably considered to be able to serve as an impartial individual.” 3 V.S.A. § 921 (B)

Rapid Response If Trump Fires Robert Mueller

NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW
MUELLER FIRING RAPID RESPONSE

Donald Trump could be preparing to put himself above the law.

Trump could create a constitutional crisis if he fires special counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees Mueller, or attempts to compromise the investigation by other means.

Our response in the hours following a potential power grab will dictate what happens next—whether Congress will stand up to Trump or allow him to move our democracy toward authoritarianism.

12 Senators On The 12th Write a Letter to the FCC

Recently, I saw a story about 12 senators sending a letter to the FCC about the Sinclair Broadcasting company..

This article is full of coincidences. 12 Senators on the 12th of April. April 12th is the 102 day of the year. 102 is 12 in numerology. In Gematria,  FCC=12 in English Ordinal. F is the 6th letter, C is the 3rd. 6+3+3=12. Think of the symbolism of the number 12. 12 months in a year. 12 disciples of Jesus, 12 tribes of Israel, 12  signs of the Zodiac. Time is measured in 2 groups of 12, the 12 labors of Heracles. The 12 step program. 12 is the square root of 144. 144,000 is a significant number for religious people.

The Mystery of 9/11

I have solved the mystery of 9/11: Lee Harvey Oswald did it!

Getting back to reality…

“United States is overwhelmingly and increasingly in the hands of a very narrow sector of corporate wealth, private wealth and power. They have counterparts elsewhere who agree with them and who interact with them and that’s who rules the world.” – Noam Chomsky

Artist at MGFA with Matt Brown featuring Live Demonstration

Mitchell • Giddings Fine Arts is excited to host an Artist Talk with Matt Brown on Saturday, April 21 at 5pm. Brown will be discussing his current exhibit “Conversations with Color Woodblock Prints”, on display at Mitchell • Giddings Fine Arts through May 6. The talk will include a demonstration by Brown of the Japanese hanga method of printmaking used by Hokusai, Kunisada and Hiroshige, a technique in which each print is created entirely by hand using water and pigments applied to multiple carved wooden blocks. One woodblock corresponds to one color within a print, and each is transferred to paper by a small hand-held baren.

“Conversations with Color Woodblock Prints” features over 40 prints, with many new pieces, as well as watercolor and pencil studies, working proofs and progressive states, providing viewers a glimpse into the artist’s continuous dialogue with his imagery and materials. Often changes made over several years create subtle, or dramatic, re-imagining of Brown’s initial vision.
