Lots of Out of Town Plates

Just an observation. This summer it seems like we’ve had a lot of out of state visitors, judging by license plates.

I’ve seen South Carolina, Florida, all of new England, California, Kansas, Alaska, and even Hawaii. Many more, too.

Navel Gazing

According to the Abrahamic religions, Adam and Eve were the first man and woman. In the Book of Genesis, God fashioned Adam from dust and placed him in the Garden of Eden.

Subsequently, Eve is created from one of Adam’s ribs to be Adam’s companion. Notice that neither was “Born of woman” in the traditional manner.

53rd Labor Day Weekend Festival: Organ Recital & Orchestra Lawn Concert

Guilford, Vt. – As it has done for over a half-century, Friends of Music at Guilford (FOMAG) opens its 53rd annual music season with a concert in a rural barn on Saturday night of Labor Day Weekend. The Organ Barn is in an idyllic setting near the state line where Guilford meets Leyden, Massachusetts. The intimate Barn seats close to a hundred concertgoers, and on Sunday afternoon, two hundred or more people flock to the lawn outside the Barn for picnicking and an orchestra concert.

Amtrak on Time?

I’m to meet someone coming in on the northbound at Brattleboro and am wondering whether the train is tending to run more-or-less on time? Used to be a variable of a half hour or so, but it’s my sense that the operation has been improving. I expect someone on this site has good, recent experience to report. Thanks.

How come you never heard of it?

Quote: I bet it’s brand new information to people that President Obama had a six-month ban on the Iraqi refugee program after two Iraqis came here to this country, were radicalized and they were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre.

The Catholic Malaise

I’m listening to a broadcast on VPR about the currently exploding priest sexual scandal.

As a descendant of Irish people, I grew up Catholic. Total immersion: Mass every Sunday, 12 years of Catholic school, Altar Boy. The whole ball of wax. I even joined a Catholic fraternity in college.

I have to say that I never observed any hint of sexual abuse toward myself or toward anybody else, male or female.
