It is time for the October 2022 dashboard summary. We continue semi-regular COVID-19 dashboard numbers from the Vermont Department of Health, and MA and NH counties that surround Brattleboro, as long as they continue providing them. Scroll down the new comments for the latest.
Vermont and MA have very limited looks at what are going on these days, with weekly snapshots. NH attempt daily updates but doesn’t always give new totals. We try…. : )
Next Stage Arts and Twilight Music present an Acoustic Guitar Summit with guitar virtuosos Pierre Bensusan and Tim Sparks at Next Stage on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 pm.
If World Music means the fusion of traditional, contemporary, jazz, classical, and pop music, then French-Algerian acoustic guitar legend, vocalist, and composer Pierre Bensusan is one of the most eloquent World Music musicians of our time. Winner of the Independent Music Award for his triple live album “Encore,” voted Best World Music Guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine reader’s Poll, and winner of the Rose d’Or at the Montreux Festival for his debut album, Pierre is recognized as one of the greatest guitar players of the 21st century. Since his first performances in 1974 in France, the “The Prince of DADGAD” has sold half a million albums and given thousands of concerts around the globe, both solo and through numerous collaborations. “Pierre can only justly be compared to someone of the stature of Keith Jarrett; so total is his mastery of the solo instrument, his dazzling harmony, his many innovations, and his deft command of counterpoint, the jazz idiom, folk expression, and all genres between and beyond.” (Guitar Player Magazine)

An Element of Racism?
While it would be expected for Western media to report fully on civilian life taken in the Ukraine by the military of US designated enemy Russia, and for CIA managed Western media[1] to avoid reporting civilian loss of life caused by US/NATO military throughout the Third World, people in Asia, Africa, MiddleEast and Latin America are surly noticing an element of racism with so much media attention given White European lives lost reminding them of the complete absence of compassionate media coverage of the millions of civilian lives lost by peoples of skin of various hues of color during the many US led neocolonialist wars in their nations since the Second World War.
Up first on the Nov. 8, 2022 election ballot in Vermont is Slavery!
Today I made a short video on the subject of modern day slavery. Taxes are taken out of your paycheck and sent to the I.R.S., then the U.S. Congress votes to give your hard earned money to corporations as billion dollar subsidies. The corporations sell products internationally and do NOT give us a share of THEIR profits even though we paid for their subsidies.

The pandemic is not over. Sorry to burst your bubble, but if you think that COVID is not still in the air and infecting and killing people you are not accepting reality. According to the CDC there 49,808 new cases a day, 353 deaths every day and 3737 hospitalizations every day.
Nearly 96 million Americans (an underestimate) have been infected with COVID, 1,051,389 Americans have died and there are currently 20,033 people now being treated in U.S. hospitals for severe cases of COVID. Those numbers have slowed over recent months but the disease is still very much with us and will most likely become something we have to deal with for a long time.
My wife and I have been extremely careful about respecting the power of COVID and up until two weeks ago we thought we would be able to avoid becoming infected. We have had two boosters and also the Omicron protective (third) booster. We wear masks in all indoor public places and try to avoid crowds.
MAN who controls debates at VermontPublic.org REFUSES TO ALLOW A WOMAN U.S. SENATE CANDIDATE, Ms. Cris Ericson, to DEBATE with ALL MEN CANDIDATES, U.S. Congressman Peter Welch and Republican Gerald Malloy. No wonder NO woman has ever been elected to the U.S. Senate from Vermont before!
