On September 25, The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued proposed rulemaking (Docket 05-311) which, if successful, could allow cable operators to reclassify certain services and charge those against the cable subscriber fees that are collected to fund public access stations in Vermont and across the country.

Antje Duvekot is a German-born, American-raised singer/songwriter whose songs have been critically praised for their hard-won wisdom, dark-eyed realism and street-smart romanticism.  Her bicultural upbringing and relative newness to English have helped shape her unique way with a song, giving her a startlingly original poetic palette.

Author Talk with Valerie Abrahamsen

Join us at Brooks Memorial Library at 7 pm on Tuesday, December 4th as Harvard-trained theologian Dr. Valerie Abrahamsen discusses her book Paranormal: A New Testament Scholar Looks at the Afterlife.

In her book, she examines four types of evidence for the survival of the individual soul after bodily death: scientific instruments and techniques, near-death experiences, reputable psychics and mediums, and out-of-body experiences. Dr. Abramson contends that not only is the afterlife a certainty beyond a reasonable doubt, but the evidence also points definitively to reincarnation, the law of cause and effect (karma), pre-birth decisions, our ability to communicate with those who have passed over, and the fact that our loved ones know what is going on in our lives.

Guilford, Vt. — Friends of Music at Guilford (FOMAG) presents “Joyeux Noël,” its 46th Christmas at Christ Church program, at 7:30 on Friday, December 7, and again at 4:00 on Saturday, December 8. Traditional elements of this event include vocal and instrumental music of the season, an entertaining story with a holiday or winter theme, and a short carol sing.

This year’s program is dedicated in memory of Neil Quinn, who passed away in mid-September. Telephone Scam

There’s one going around right now. I get about 4-5 calls a day.

The caller identifies themselves as representing “Microsoft Technical Department”. They go on, saying they have observed suspicious activity in your account or some such.

If you continue, they have you enter a few strokes and a whole list of items pops up.(about 25) They say that each item represents someone, somewhere, who is currently using your computer for their own purposes without your permission.
