The Brattleboro Women’s Chorus presents their 26th annual spring concerts entitled “Why Not Sing?” on Saturday June 4 and Sunday June 5 at 4:00 pm outdoors at the Retreat Farm. These will be the first in-person concerts the BWC has presented since 2019.
The concerts will feature songs the chorus has been working on this spring and includes some favorites from earlier sessions. Local musician Lisa McCormick will join the chorus on several songs, including “Tiny Lights” by Coco Love Alcorn and “Can You Catch the Moon” by Lisa Loeb and Elizabeth Mitchell. The chorus will also sing Velma Frye’s “Take Heart” and Terry Garthwaite’s “Shine On.” McCormick and the chorus will be joined by the ukulele orchestra on a premiere of Barbara McAfee’s song (and the concert title), “Why Not Sing?”
The Windham Southeast Supervisory Union Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Speno as Superintendent of Schools for the 2022-2023 school year. The Board is looking forward to collaborating with Mr. Speno, expanding on his excellent work supporting students and staff and extending it into effective implementation of policies and continuous improvement.

Today I plan to go to the Co-op cafe, having just turned 77, and splurge on a slice of chocolate layer cake.
It is also the day that you get to see the new issue of blog88.org. It is the first issue since December. I felt dismayed to have gotten caught up in the winter doldrums, until I realized how foolish it is to make blogging into deadline pressure. Did it make sense to replace the work responsibilities that I have left behind with new obligations and stress?
It takes a village (and a few towns, and many volunteers) to keep local TV alive and well and thriving -. as well as an accomplished and devoted crew.
In this show, Helena Leschuk gives us an inside look into Brattleboro Community TV and the staff that brings us the local information we need to know and many terrific shows to keep us entertained.

Brattleboro, VT…. Brattleboro is home to many historic treasures, some large enough to grace the main street in town, others hidden gems that we need to seek out. The Estey Organ Museum is one of those pieces of history that is well worth a visit for many reasons. Tucked away in the company’s Old Engine House on Birge Street, it holds a century of local history that spread the Estey reputation far and wide.
The new season starts on May 21 in celebration of the museum’s 20th year and will be open to the public on Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. through October. It is unique in that unlike what we’re used to in most museums, the hosts in this museum say to all visitors—adults and children alike—please touch; please sit down and play the organs. Visitors even have the opportunity of walking through a pipe organ to see how the mechanism works.
