MEMO TO: MEDIA

FROM: HILARY FRANCIS, TOWN CLERK

SUBJECT: NOVEMBER 5, 2024 GENERAL ELECTION – LETTER TO BRATTLEBORO VOTERS

DATE: SEPTEMBER 20, 2024

*************************************************************************************

Dear Brattleboro Voter,

You will be receiving an absentee ballot in the mail for the November 5, 2024, General Election. The State of Vermont will be mailing ballots during the week of September 23. The local Justice of the Peace ballot will be on the reverse side.

If you have not received your ballot by October 7, please contact our office at 802-251-8157 or townclerk@brattleboro.gov. Otherwise, please wait for your ballot to arrive.

Once your ballot arrives in the mail, make your choices and return it to the Town Clerk’s Office as soon as possible. All ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on November 5, 2024, to be counted. There are several ways to return your ballot, which are listed below.

Drop Box: There is a secure drop box in the Municipal Center parking lot where voters, or a friend or family member, may return their ballot in the signed certificate envelope that will be sent with the ballot. We encourage voters to use this method.

Return by Mail: You can also return the ballot in the mail using the pre-paid return envelope. Again, be sure the ballot is in the signed certificate envelope.

Vote In-Person: If you wish to vote at the polls on Election Day, we encourage you to bring your unvoted ballot that you received in the mail. Brattleboro polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 5 at the American Legion, 32 Linden St.

We are looking forward to a smooth and successful 2024 Election, and with your help this can be achieved.

  • scant evidence the ballots were sent

Having seen a “we’re delayed” notice here or in the Reformer, I waited until today to call and was told it was sent 1 October.

I live next to the Harmony Lot. 16 days even re-routed through White River Junction? More scumbaggery from the town.

They clearly wanted to send another. I asked to pick it up from the office itself and was pleasantly given my ballot some minutes later.

I encourage those who have yet to receive a ballot to chime in here. I live in an apartment building, so there’s potentially substantial numbers in my position.

  • Received and Voted

I live in an apartment building and had no issue. Already voted weeks ago.
