Brattleboro Early-Absentee Ballots Available for August 2024 State Primary

EARLY AND ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Early and absentee ballots for the State Primary Election, to be held August 13 are now available by request. Absentee ballots for this election must be requested.

Anyone wishing to vote early and in-person may now do so at the Brattleboro Town Clerk’s Office. This option is available through August 12 at 5 p.m.

Anyone wishing to vote absentee may apply for an absentee ballot until 5 p.m. on Monday, August 12, although we recommend doing so as soon as possible to account for mail delivery time. All voted ballots must be received by the Clerk before the polls close on Election Day, August 13 by 7 p.m., to be counted.

For more information or to request an absentee ballot, call 802-251-8157 or visit https://mvp.vermont.gov.

Absentee ballots can be mailed to the voter or picked up from the Town Clerk’s office by the voter. Only the voter may pick up their ballot. If a voter is ill or needs assistance to fill out the ballot, two Justices of the Peace can deliver ballots outside of the Voter’s location. Mailing of requested ballots began in late June.

Ballots can be returned by mail, dropped off in advance of the election in the drop box in the Municipal Center parking lot or returned to the polls on Election Day. When returning voted ballots, please pay careful attention to the instructions included with your ballots.

Sample Brattleboro ballots and meeting warnings can be found on our website at www.brattleboro.gov, under “Elections.” Visit our new Voting FAQs at https://brattleboro.gov/voting-faqs.  Information about candidates is not available from the Town Clerk’s office. Voters can research or visit the library for assistance with their research.

Vermont offers same-day voter registration. However, to save time on Election Day, it is advisable to register to vote in advance by going online to https://olvr.vermont.gov. Paper applications are available at the Town Clerk’s office. You can also update your voter information or request a ballot at https://mvp.vermont.gov.

For more information about voter registration and absentee voting, contact the Town Clerk’s office at 802-251-8157. The Brattleboro Town Clerk’s Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. We will be closed Tuesday, August 13, Election Day, and will re-open to the public on Wednesday, August 14 at 12 p.m.
