In a stunning turn of events, Republicans are poised to lose the House of Representatives in 2018.
According to the latest Quinnipiac poll, voters prefer a Democratic majority by 54 to 38 percent!
In the same poll, respondents were asked to sum up Donald Trump in a single word. Among the top responses
were “idiot,” “incompetent,” and “liar,” with “unqualified,” “ignorant,” and “stupid” high on the list.

No Is Not Enough (Book)
A website for “No Is Not Enough” says the book “reveals, among other things, how Trump’s election was not a peaceful transition, but a corporate takeover, one using deliberate shock tactics to generate wave after wave of crises and force through radical policies that will destroy people, the environment, the economy, and national security. This book is the toolkit for shock resistance, showing all of us how we can break Trump’s spell and win the world we need.”
Maybe
And this is unique to Trump?
Corporations have been running the show for much longer than a few months, in my humble opinion. (And you are well aware of manufactured crises being deployed going back decades.)
There’s a public side to this, and an inside-the-betlway (Deep State/House of Cards) element to it as well. I’m being highly cautious about jumping to any conclusions. No one seems to be speaking the full truth.
I think putting it all on Trump might be cathartic but will result (in the long run) in more of the same, with things getting a bit worse. The message will be for the next corporate whore to look more presidential. The outward appearance and style will be reassuring, everyone will calm down, and business will continue as usual. Whatever Trump and the GOP accomplish will not be undone or investigated by the next Democrat in office. No one undid-Bush era nonsense.
Sad, but true
“Whatever Trump and the GOP accomplish will not be undone or investigated by the next Democrat in office”
Yeah. Obama did a great job of investigating Bu$h, didn’t he?
As I look back, I feel that the America I grew up in is gone forever.
Hubris
Sounds like wishful thinking to me – to definitively predict the result of elections 18 months away.
Then again, the left always has been good at self deception. The right, in contrast, doesn’t limit its deception to ‘self.’
Looking ahead!
18 months prior to the last presidential election, we all knew it would be Jeb and Hillary, a battle of two political power families.
“We all knew” ??
I agree completely with Will. And I’ll add, that to “definitively predict the result of elections 18 months away” is not only counterproductive but is undue media influence during the campaign/election. There should be a “media blackout” of all polls and predictions because they are undue influence, akin to the ban, “No Electioneering.” To be read as “No Media Electioneering!”
Just report the damn facts of candidate backgrounds, experience, platforms, positions, public appearances, etc., but leave the damn hubris of polls/predictions out of the media.
Also, when I read Chris’ comment that: “18 months prior to the last presidential election, we all knew it would be Jeb and Hillary” is untrue. I certainly warned repeatedly not to predict who will win, and to never underestimate the Republicans, and, especially Trump, during an election cycle. That “we all knew” is another broad assumption.
One week out no one knows anything
That was a joke.. a comment on media/polls, and not trusting them.
One day out
I couldn’t tell, sorry about taking that seriously, although I do remember people on this site, polls and other places sounding so certain about their steadfast Hillary predictions.
one day out
Joke or no joke, thats what I believed to be the match up for prez: bush vs clinton.
Thats what most in New England thought. And then as it unfolded, i realized how out of touch we are with the rest of the country here in NE.
Creating a monster; getting what you wish for
I think much of the rest of the country was thinking Bush/Clinton, too – and was out of step with itself. : )
I was re-reading some of the DNC emails provided to us by wikileaks back in the day. It’s really important to remember that the DNC strategy, written out for all to follow, was to boost the popularity of what they called “Pied Piper” candidates – Trump, Cruz, and Carson. The DNC wanted to run against them, and worked to boost them in popularity and seriousness with the media during the early stages of primaries.
More clearly – Clinton team and DNC wanted to run against Trump or Cruz or Carson, or at least get them so popular they’d ruin chances for the “serious” candidates like Bush.
Even more clearly – Clinton team and DNC did nothing to marginalize Trump, until it was too late and he was the candidate.
Too Busy
Clinton team and DNC did nothing to marginalize Trump, until it was too late and he was the candidate.
They were too busy doing a job on Sanders!
