If Hillary Clinton is elected, America will have broken a glass ceiling with their choice of the first female president.
Her husband will have broken a different glass ceiling. Since the beginning of our country, no man has been allowed to become First Lady.
This historic event will send a message to the world that men, too, can be a hostess to diplomats and world leaders at special dinners.
Men, too, can help choose the china and redecorate the Lincoln bedroom.
We’ll send a clear message that men can read books to inner city children, be dressed by the best fashion designers, and sit quietly at political events.
If a man has special interests or talents, perhaps they can even oversee an initiative, such as gardening, eating well, saying no to drugs, or exercising. He will have to remember his role and place, however, and leaving the governing to those best suited for the job.
Who knows? If he plays his cards right, a male former-First Lady might someday become a senator or even candidate for president himself.
An era is ending. Let freedom ring. Equality is on the march.
No longer will boys and young men live in the shadows of their female counterparts. They can go to sleep each night knowing that one day, too, they could become anything they wanted – even First Lady of the United States.
