What Does Jane “Win” If Her Husband, Bernie Sanders, Wins The Election For President?

I was greatly criticized by friends of Jane Sanders for commenting on Facebook that she should improve her wardrobe and leave the “hippy” dresses behind here in Vermont. What incentive would help her to decide to make her wardrobe more upscale? After all, she is the wife of a U.S. Senator; but does her appearance look like a “First Lady”?

What Does Jane “Win” If Her Husband, Bernie Sanders, Wins The Election For President?

For starters, Jane “wins” the First Lady’s Office in the White House!

http://www.whitehousemuseum.org/east-wing/first-ladys-office.htm

“Roslynn Carter broke tradition and set up an office for herself in the East Wing, and for the first time it was formally called “Office of the First Lady.” …Her principal assistant was the first to hold a separately identified position with the title “chief of staff to the first lady.”…

…Nancy Regan… benefited from the 1978 statute (PL 95-570) which authorizes “assistance and services . . . to be provided to the spouse of the Presidentin connection with assistance provided by such spouse to the President
in the discharge of the President’s duties and responsibilities.”..

…Hilary Clinton… office on the second floor of the West Wing itself; her staff of twenty (plus another fifteen interns and volunteers) was divided between a suite in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and the traditional locus of the East Wing….

…First lady Laura Bush… office in the East Wing,… …had taken one foreign trip on her own, meeting and talking with several foreign chiefs of state.

  • Huh?

If there’s a valid point anywhere in this message, I’m afraid I’m missing it. The writer really takes issue with how Jane Sanders dresses? Come on!

    • No office for you!

Maybe she means that if Jane Sanders doesn’t get some fashion advice she( Jane) wouldn’t deserve to be First Lady or maybe she won’t even deserve to have an “office” in the White House. How sad that society is still determing the worth of a woman – no matter how accomplished she might be – by how she looks and what she wears.

  • Perhaps it's because Bernie

Perhaps it’s because Bernie doesn’t actually have a actual chance of winning the nomination but it seems as though Jane Sanders has gotten a free pass on the issues during her tenure as president of Burlington College.

Let’s face it, if she wasn’t the wife of a US senator, she’d wouldn’t even warrant a footnote.

    • That's a Crock ...

… of you-know-what from another “anonymous” pundit who is trying to deflate Bernie’s chances by telling lies at no risk to themselves … by keeping themselves anonymous. The internet is full of these kinds of lies right now, precisely because Bernie is so very successful! You watch … these next primaries will see him overtake Hillary, just as Obama did in 2008.

  • Not just Jane... Bernard as well!

Hippy dresses are bad enough. It is unbecoming for a future president to heat with wood. If Mr. and Mrs. Sanders are serious about leading our nation, they both need a serious make-over.

Thanks be to God that in all of Vermont there is one Cris Ericson with the insight and good sense to set things straight.

  • This doesn't make any more

This doesn’t make any more sense than the original post.
It seems to me that Jane Sanders has lived a happy, successful, accomplished life. Not sure what kind of pass she may have been given.

    • I've always assumed that Jane

I’ve always assumed that Jane Sanders accepting a buy-out to leave Burlington College after the brou-ha-ha over the misstated federal financial forms is one little tidbit the Repubs are sitting on, just in case Bernie gets the nomination. No one will be getting any sort of pass if he gets enough delegates. Clothing will not matter. In fact I think their lack of sartorial splendor probably sits well across the country and it fits the image that they are trying to project. Down-home casual thrifty and not well-heeled common man and woman.. But I must say I would never dare criticize someone else’ s attire, glass houses, stones and all. Might be good advice for others also.

That aside, could someone throw out Bernie’s brown suits, please.
