Ted Cruz has taken a hard line on immigration. Cruz was born on December 22, 1970, in Calgary, Alberta. Therefore, Cruz is himself an immigrant. Huh?

It's not only Cruz.
Other would-be presidents in the Republican Party have equally strong feelings. Donald Trump says if elected he would deport any Syrians who had been admitted prior to his taking office. Chris Christie says not even orphans under the age of five should be admitted. Rand Paul plans to suspend visas for all people coming from countries with “significant jihadist movements.”
In addition to the wannabes, thirty-one U.S. governors have said that Syrian refugees are not welcome in their states. These governors are inspired in their opposition by the Paris attack that killed 130 people. They have forgotten what life is like in the United States without the terrorists even being admitted. So far this year, there have been more than 12,000 gun deaths in the United States, 24,000 gun related injuries, 600 children killed and 300 mass shootings. All occurred without the assistance of one Syrian refugee. None of the gun related deaths was the result of terrorist attacks. The mass shooting that took place on December 2 that left 13 people dead and 17 wounded was by local murderers rather than Syrian refugees. And that’s just guns.
In a 1944 speech, FDR stated: “All of our people all over the country-except the pure blooded Indians are immigrants or descendants of immigrants, including even those who came over on the Mayflower”.
My head hurts
Hatred really has broken out in the GOP. Maybe it was bubbling under the surface for a long time and they’ve simply snapped, but their rhetoric is insane these days. They don’t seem to equate their words with the actions they trigger, either. What us? Planned parenthood shooting? Were not responsible at all, even if we call folks baby murderers on a daily basis!
Seems like there is at least a marginal chance that we will have President Trump, too. Will the angry mob be large enough to carry him?
Of course, Democrats are being stupid, too. Not quite as mean and cold, but stupid nonetheless.
Or Neo-con Clinton 3.6, who wants to fight ISIS in the air, on the ground and on the internet. That shows a lack of worldly and tech understanding, to me. She’d like us to create more terrorist in the long term by continuing failed strategies (but more!), and make us all less secure by forcing backdoors (for law enforcement and bad guy hackers) into otherwise secure technology. Reminder – you want secure technology so your bank info and credit cards aren’t stolen, for example. Clinton is against this.
How we could be back to a post-9/11 fear frenzy again is beyond me, but it seems it is time for all of us to be very very scared again. We can’t look at what’s causing any of this, though. Must react. Strongly and stupidly!
