This morning we learn that there is a write-in candidate for the one year Brattleboro Selectboard seat. Former candidate Kathryn Turnas II announced her candidacy in an email this morning:
“I plan on running as a write-in candidate for the one year Select Board seat. If you decide to write me in please use Kathryn Turnas II.
Thanks in advance and see you at the polls.”
Polling places for all three districts in Brattleboro is B.U.H.S. gym from 9:00 am until 7 pm. The school is handicap accessible.
Town Meeting members are still needed in each district. Districts 1 & 2 are each short 12 members and District 3 is short 1 member.
Anyone interested in running for a position as a write-in candidate must file a Declaration of Candidacy with the town clerk by the close of the polls on election day in order for their votes to be counted. Declarations of Candidacy will be posted on a bulletin board at the polls so voters will be aware of those interested in vacant positions.
The Beeline will run free of charge on election day.
The deadline to register to vote in the March election is Wed., Feb. 26 at 5:00 pm.
Absentee ballots may be requested until 5:00 pm on Monday, March 3.
The Brattleboro town clerk’s office will open on Sat., March 1 from 9:00 am – noon for those wishing to vote early.
Good luck, Kathryn
Thank you, Kathryn, giving voters an additional option.
A new member with a thoughtful and intelligent perspective would be a welcome addition to any board, and I feel confident that Kathryn’s presence on the Brattleboro Selectboard would be good for our town.
