Persistence pays off
Thanks for this comprehensive account of the meeting. It’s interesting how your experience as a member of the audience differed from your face to face discussion with the principals after the meeting. I wonder if there is a way to handle audience participation that would address concerns more immediately, rather than dismissing critics during the meeting only to be more forthcoming afterward….
That said, I’ve been liking Elwell too.
Not likely using IPD
Since I feel you have misrepresented me on various levels more than once, I would want to speak directly with Peter Elwell at this point in order to clarify exactly what he intended to communicate to you. However, I will tentatively respond to your comment
“Peter Elwell was very emphatic that the town actually uses a processes more or less along the lines of what CarlyC was advocating for.”
I was advocating for Integrated Project Delivery. This can not really be done more-or-less, it is a process defined by the American Institute of Architects, and had this process been followed, I have an extremely difficult time believing we would have ended up with the product we are getting.
Take a look for yourself

Your claim that the committee, and specifically John Allen, is advocating for keeping taxpayers in the dark caught my attention. Again, I would want to have this confirmed before taking it for gospel, but if this were the case I would be quite unhappy. It would also mean the Integrated Project Delivery method is absolutely not being used. One guiding principal states:
“Open Communication
IPD’s focus on team performance is based on open, direct, and honest communication among all participants. Responsibilities are clearly defined in a no-blame culture leading to identification and resolution of problems, not determination of liability. Disputes are recognized as they occur and promptly resolved. ”
The young man’s name
The young man’s name is Avery Schwenk.
He did very well in the election and came within several votes of winning.
