Please be sure to include North End Butchers, Windham Wines and Adams Seafood in your shopping plans this spring and summer. With the coming closing of Black Mountain Trading Co., on Putney Road, I would like to urge all to frequent the North End Butchers, Windham Wines, Adams Seafood and other merchants in the little shopping mall on Putney Road just north of Hannafords.
North End Butchers is starting to get fresh vegetables from local growers, they have their usual fine selection of locally grown meat, sandwiches and a nice assortment of prepared foods. They have even been carrying locally grown shitaki mushrooms.
These stores are all still recovering from the flood last fall. Sadly, the town with all it’s talk of supporting small local business has not, to my knowledge, been of much assistance even though it was a poorly run town construction project that caused the flood. So please do not forget these merchants, they all offer quality items, are locally owned and operated and add a nice to touch to the Brattleboro shopping experience.
Yes!
Very much agree with this. All excellent stores with carefully selected items, and helpful staff.
Perhaps another food-related business will move in to compliment what’s there? Bakery, cheeses, ice cream parlor, small restaurant…?
Thanks also to our electronics store, flooring, and bank operations while we’re up there. (I’m not thrilled with the dancing Statue of Liberty tax place, but that’s just me. I’m sure they are excellent folks…)
No it's not just you, that
No it’s not just you, that dancing Statue of Liberty really bothers me too, especially when it’s 20 degrees out. I guess it’s a job for someone but it seems a little harsh in that kind of weather.
It's the Irony that Bothers Me.
I’m offended at the dancing Statue of Liberty too. Only because it’s such an oxymoron to call the place Liberty Tax. These two words couldn’t be more opposed to each other. Although given enough time Vermont probably would come up with such a thing.
Shop local!
Windham Wines has excellent wines and will advise what to get for certain menus or types of events. The meat and seafood are fresh and top quality.
Support BRW Electronics too, now that they’re not Radio Shack, instead of getting your electronic stuff at a big box store. They have all those various watch batteries and little weird connectors and cables, and they’ll help you figure out what you need. They do repairs of phones and computers too.
Makers, too
They’ve become much better, in my view, since the Radio Shack days. Anyone getting into ‘maker’ projects will want to stop in for controller boards, project kits, robot parts, and so on.
