The Biggest Political Error Vermont Will Ever Make

Book: The New Nuclear Danger 2002 by Dr. Helen Caldicott page 203: Three Tennessee Valley Authority commercial nuclear reactors —
Watts Bar Unit 1 (near Spring City, TN) and Sequoyah Units 1 and 2 (at Soddy Daisy, TN) — have been chosen as the “preferred” sites to manufacture tritium for U.S. nuclear weapons. The decision breaches the longstanding policy of not producing bomb material in civilian nuclear power plants. According to Robert Tiller of Physicians for Social Responsibility, “Our leaders are upset that Iraq might use civilian facilities to produce components for weapons of mass destruction, but the United States is now committed to do that very thing — turning a civilian reactor into a bomb facility.”

Another thing, more recently, to be aware of, is that Georgia Tech is making missle fuel with pinene from Pine Trees. When the U.S. Air Force brings F-35 fighter jets here, how can we stop them from taking the closed nuclear power plant and all the pine trees by eminent domain? They could make Vermont into a military base from top to bottom. The missles have fuel in them because they are shot out of the jet, and keep going towards their
computer aided target, but the jet makes a sudden turn to the left or right and heads back to a safe airspace.

So, from reading Dr. Helen Caldicott’s 2002 book, which mentions Bernie Sanders, I get the impression that Bernie Sanders has been “in” on the transformation of Vermont from small family farms (25,000 farms when I was a kid up on Bolton Mtn. inbetween Camel’s Hump and Mt. Mansfield) into a military industrial complex with (1) F-35 strike fighter jets which can go from Burlington to Brattleboro in less than 10 minutes, and a possible (2) bomb parts making facility in the current Vermont Yankee Entergy Nuclear Power Plant, and then everywhere inbetween, possibly (3) strip mining Vermont of Pine Forests to make Missile Fuel.

Protest! Bring back small family farms, kibbutzs and communes by demanding that land under the “current use” property tax program, whereby wealthy rich people get to pay little or no tax on large amounts of land because
they are not doing anything with it —- amend the “current use” tax program and only continue it if the land is being leased on extremely long term leases to small family farms, communes and kibbutzs, who could then pay
the property tax that the rich land owners are not paying under “current use”.

Bring back small farms in Vermont and give the military industrial complex the boot!

Some of this was discussed recently in political debates with non-Republican and non-Democrat candidates on CCTV in Burlington, Vermont. Peter Diamondstone, Bernard Peters and Cris Ericson “http://www.cctv.org/watch-tv/programs/qualified-candidates-general-election-vermont-governor
Aug. 15, 2014 candidate forum for U.S. House of Representatives, Qualifying candidates for the lone Vermont seat in Congress speak to the issues. Cris Ericson (I) of Chester, Matthew Andrews (Liberty Union) of Plainfield, incumbent Peter Welch (D) of Norwich (declined participation), Jerry Trudell (Energy Independence), and Randall Meyer (I) http://www.cctv.org/watch-tv/programs/qualified-candidates-representative-congress

I was in both debates, and I touched on these subjects which are so important right now. Normally, in past election seasons, I have gone on and on and on about marijuana legalization. But, wake up! Governor Peter Shumlin has no intentions of promoting small farms in Vermont; he’s hung ho on promoting the military industrial complex.

For “Duck Dynasty” fans, I recommend the Governor forum with me and Peter Diamondstone and Bernard Peters. I am sitting in between these two gentlemen in a bright red dress, and they have long beards, Peter wears a pink Socialist t-shirt, and they talk about how many children and grandchildren they have. They should be invited to appear on “Duck Dynasty”.

Remember, elected officials, like Governor Peter Shumlin, U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and U.S. Congressman Peter Welch actively promoted bringing the F-35 fighter jets to Vermont. They were wined and dined by lobbyists for the military industrial businesses. They were given campaign donations from defense industry PACs and Unions, and others with vague names for the political action committees which white-wash their true intent.

Then Governor Peter Shumlin started shutting down rest areas on Hwy 89. That doesn’t save the State money, it infuriates tourists so they visit less often. When I drove from Chester, VT up to the candidate debate forums in Burlington at CCTV, there was NO rest area for 74 miles on Hwy 89. That’s not about saving money, it’s evidence that the State of Vermont is going to be turned over to the defense industry, and they have no use for tourists.
