ALERT! NEW VERMONT ELECTION LAW!
In the State of Vermont, Democrat Governor Peter Shumlin has created a new way to fill the private for profit prisons. His new law which he just signed 2014 will send people to prison for up to 15 years for allegedly falsely stating a fact or matter to a town clerk.
Both Republican primary election candidate for Governor, Emily Peyton, and Cris Ericson, Independent candidates for Governor of Vermont, agree that Vermonters have “had it up to here!” with punitive Peter Shumlin!
Act No. 161 An act relating to miscellaneous changes to election laws and to lobbyist reporting. (S. 86) It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont Offenses Against the Purity of Elections
Sec. 1 17 V.S.A. Chapter 35 is amended to read:
CHAPTER 35. OFFENSES AGAINST THE PURITY OF ELECTIONS
Subchapter 3. Miscellaneou
§ 2011. PERJURY BEFORE BOARD MAKING CHECKLIST
A person who knowingly swears falsely to a fact or matter which may be the subject of inquiry by the board of civil authority or town clerk in revising the checklist as provided in this title shall be guilty of perjury and imprisoned not more than 15 years and or fined not more than $1,000.00, or both.
15 YEARS IN PRISON FOR LYING TO THE TOWN CLERK?
HOW MUCH OF A “KICKBACK” WILL PETER SHUMLIN GET FROM THE PRIVATE FOR PROFIT PRISONS DURING THE NEXT 15 YEARS OR MORE?

ps. Cris talked Emily into brushing her hair back and putting on
lipstick and nail polish. Photos June 30, 2014 in Chester, Vermont.
The only two women candidates for Governor of Vermont 2014 got dressed up to tell you PETER SHUMLIN HAS GONE TOO FAR!
15 YEARS IN PRISON FOR LYING TO THE TOWN CLERK IS SO EXCESSIVELY PUNITIVE IT IS UN-AMERICAN.
puhleese
you ever just wish that the act of making politics should become a criminal offense?
lol !!
Cris photo taken by Emily Peyton?!
In this horserace this going to be a photo-finish.
Although, I have to say Cris is a bit more seasoned than our putney peyotian. Cris is better off sticking to her own agenda. These two will tend to cancel each other out.
That is not what the Act says
According to the writer, Act 161, “will send people to prison for up to 15 years for allegedly falsely stating a fact or matter to a town clerk.”
That is not accurate. “Stating a fact or matter” is not the same as “knowingly [swearing] falsely to a fact or matter,” (regarding revising the voter checklist).
I cannot help wondering that the intent of this law is, and about the politics motivating it. Is it an attempt to intimidate voters by threatening them with perjury? Why does Vermont need this law? Why does the Governor support it? In the context of a reactionary, nationwide voter suppression campaign, what is the significance of this law?
Given some very real concerns about Act 161, why does Cris Ericson find it expedient publish a false characterization of the law? Is this issue not sufficiently alarming without gratuitously inflammatory rhetoric from someone who says she wants to be taken seriously as a candidate for high office?
Obviously it's an attempt to
Obviously it’s an attempt to thwart the campaigns of Erickson and Peyton.
or
could it possibly be an attempt to thwart voter fraud by punishing those who would lie about voter issues. The nerve of this governor, passing laws that penalize those who lie to court officials.
or
maybe it’s just an attempt to thwart the campaigns of Erickson and Peyon. Yup, that must be it, because really, isn’t that all Shumlin has on his mind, finding ways to stop their campaigns and the threat they pose to his political aspirations.
