Reminder: To help reduce congestion on I-91 during high traffic periods, VTrans will close both the Exit 3 on-ramps next three Sundays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM: August 9, August 16, and August 23. Southbound traffic will be routed to Exit 1, and northbound traffic attempting to use the Exit 3 on ramp will be routed north on Route 5 to Exit 4. Officers will be on hand to control traffic. I-91 will remain open.

How does closing down access improve traffic flow?
Is it simply to avoid the bridge construction?
Moved the problem
All they are doing by closing the Exit is shifting the problem to other places in town. I left Memorial Park at 11:45 on Sunday morning, got on 91 North and it took me 40 minutes to get to Hannaford’s. So in order to not slow down the tourists who are leaving Vermont on Sunday afternoons, we choose to completely inconvenience the locals. Who approved this plan?
Improvement… for tourists leaving VT
Pretty sure this is for improving I-91 traffic, not in-town traffic.
Closing on-ramps means those already on 91 won’t be bothered by pesky drivers attempting to use an on-ramp at the congested work site.
Notice these are always scheduled for the business tourist times (Sundays), not for a time when traffic is already moving smoothly (such as a week day).
