MEETING RESCHEDULED – Due to the weather, the meeting regarding the Downtown Sidewalk Project previously scheduled for today, February 27, has been RESCHEDULED to Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.

Residents and Business Owners:
The Town is planning to install new sidewalks on the east side of Main Street, starting at the Gilbert Memorial Bridge and continuing north to Walnut Street. Some sections of this sidewalk were recently replaced as part of a VTrans project. The Downtown Sidewalk Project will replace the sections that have not yet been upgraded. The project is intended to improve safety for pedestrians and create a more attractive Main Street. Two FHWA Enhancement grants and a local match in the form of a bond fund this project.
We invite you as a property owner, resident or business owner along the Downtown Sidewalk Project route to attend a public meeting on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 6:15 pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center located at 230 Main Street. At the meeting, the project development process will be reviewed and discussions will be held about the objectives of the project. The Town is looking for public input on potential design issues. A future meeting to update interested parties on the project status and obtain additional public input regarding the project will follow.

Busy summer
It certainly will be a busy time downtown, with sidewalks going in on one side of the street, and Brooks House improvements on the other.
Maybe in 2014 we could schedule a summer to enjoy all the improvements from recent years. : )
Inference
Chris, are you proposing some sort of ‘Take Back Our Sidewalks’ campaign, akin to the Occupy movement of yore? I can see it now — you & Lise with a tent pitched in front of Burrows, lounging in front of a small hibachi grill upon which there are burgers and dogs, white Guy Fawkes masks atop your heads.
alas
I’ve decided to become a all-out capitalist, so I don’t understand this commie talk.
I was thinking we should charge admission to people visiting from out of town based on how much the enjoy our improvements.
…
Just kidding. I’m sort of serious that it would be fun to “schedule” a year without major construction and projects downtown. Might be hard, since things always need fixing. Just something to think about.
