The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Brattleboro Municipal Center (230 Main Street, Room 212) and over Zoom. The Board is asked to appoint the Town Clerk, Town Attorney, and Interim Town Treasurer. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will appoint Town Clerk Hilary Francis, Town Attorney Bob Fisher and Fisher and Fisher and Interim Town Treasurer Leslie Smith subject to ratification at Representative Town Meeting.

In a memorandum dated January 17, 2025 DPW Director Dan Tyler discusses the utility agreement between the Town of Brattleboro and the State of Vermont. This agreement covers the work to adjust water and sewer structures to accommodate the state paving project at Putney Road, north of Vermont Avenue. This is considered a non-participating expense and the town is responsible for the associate costs. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the utility agreement between Brattleboro and the State of Vermont, for the adjustment of utility structures impacted by the Brattleboro-Putney STP PS25(11) paving project. The estimated cost of the agreement is $41,475.

In a memorandum dated January 24, 2025 Assistant Town Manager Patrick Moreland discusses 2024 Vermont State legislation regarding an act relating to the State Ethics Commission and the State Code of Ethics. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will designate Human Services Director Sally Cruz Nix as the municipal liaison to the Vermont State Ethics Commission.

The Board is asked to approve a parade permit for The Asian Cultural Center of Vermont’s Lunar New Year Dragon parade to be held on February 2, 2025 at 2:15pm. Participants will utilize the crosswalks and sidewalks. No street closures are required. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve a parade permit for The Asian Cultural Center of Vermont’s Lunar New Year Dragon parade to be held on February 2, 2025.

8. OLD BUSINESS (6:35 PM)

A. Warn Annual Town Meeting and Representative Town Meeting

The Board is asked to discuss and possibly approve the Warnings for the March 4, 2025 Town Meeting and the March 22, 2025 Representative Town Meeting.

POTENTIAL MOTION: TO APPROVE THE WARNING FOR THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING DAY ELECTION AND THE ANNUAL REPRESENTATIVE TOWN MEETING.
