The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a special meeting on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 9:00am in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center. Please note that the Board will discuss a portion of the FY19 Proposed Budget which is a separate document and can be found on the homepage of the Town’s website under “News” and on the Selectboard page under “Draft Minutes and Supporting Documents.” ASL interpreters will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members.

Minor suggestions
My suggestions for some departments…
– Move business licenses to Town Clerk office, where people expect licenses
– Reduce fee of business licenses by 50%; allow payment anytime in year
– change tree cutting policies – collect large fees for trees over a certain diameter being cut, charge steep fines for violations. (use this to make up and exceed “lost income” from business licenses being reduced). Demand replacement trees be planted along sidewalks and roads.
– Lumber Inspector and Weigher of Coal are obsolete. Drop them – waste of time. (Fence Viewer still used…)
– Consider some free parking for library patrons where police used to park at Municipal Center.
