  • Poll says keep costs down

Results of our instant runoff poll, fyi:

The best ideas I’ve heard for the Police and Fire station facilities, in order of preference, are:

    1. just do health and safety quick fixes at three locations for $5.8 million (52.2%)
    2. do the two Fire Stations (about $9.5 million); wait on Police station ($3 million +)
    3. do them all as planned, at the same time, for just over $14 million
    4. ask the taxpayers to weigh in via ballot
    5. combine Police and Fire at Central; do West Brattleboro station, for $11.2 million
    6. do the original plan, but scale back the add-ons like new furniture, for $12.6 million
    7. I have another idea that I’ll outline below in comments.
    8. whatever the committee recommends, I support

Voters ranked their top three preferences. The top result is the one that garnered more than 50% of the votes.
