New Board Member Join Youth Services Brattleboro— Bobbi Kilburn of Westminster, recently joined 15 other community members in serving on Youth Services’ board of directors. Through 10 programs ranging from Court Diversion to Big Brothers Big Sisters, the nonprofit agency helps Windham County children, youth, and families thrive.
The board and staff are looking forward to tapping Kilburn’s background in financial management and business consulting services, as well as her willingness to help with the many fundraising activities of the organization.
According to Tom Nunziata, Board President, Bobbi’s extensive management and financial experience is a welcomed addition. “We look forward to Bobbi’s contributions to the great work of our board as the agency enters its 42nd year of helping the youth of our community,” he said.
Kilburn is currently providing consultant support to the Vermont Center for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing, acting as its Director of Finance and Board treasurer during its wind-down phase. Since leaving Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corporation after 15 years as its Vice President, Treasurer and Corporate Secretary, she provided financial and business consulting services to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria and to Monadnock SCORE Chapter #379 in Keene, NH. In the early part of her career, Kilburn worked for Chittenden Bank’s mortgage loan servicing division.
The Vermont native has long been aware of Youth Services as a parent of three children, now grown. “I understand the intricacies of raising a family, and the trials and tribulations that may come to pass being a parent or a young person in this day and age,” said Kilburn. “We all benefit when a community is strong, vibrant and offering its youth a means to succeed. I’m excited to be contributing to this effort by joining the Youth Services board,” she said.
With a MBA from Southern New Hampshire University, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management with a specialization in Accounting from Keene State College, Kilburn has already put her education and skill to work in the community in other ways. She volunteers as a bookkeeper for the Westminster Gazette and provides business development support for United Way of Windham County, currently planning the 2015 Handbags for Hope event.
