  • Candidate Selection Process

According to Jan Anderson, the candidates being considered for town Police Chief is a confidential personnel human resources matter. The names of the candidates are therefore not made available to the public. The only candidate who will be known – is the one hired.

The list by name of the Brattleboro Police Chief Search Community Committee members are:

    Larry Hames
    Ross Gibson
    Pal Borosky
    Vickie Sterling
    Alyssa Todd
    Philip Chapman
    Ron Stahley

  • Two other committees

I did not ask who the committee members are for the Brattleboro Police Chief Search Officers Committee and the Brattleboro Police Chief Search Evaluation Committee.

    • Pretty sure...

The Officers Committee is made up of current officers on the force.

      • Makes sense

They have the institutional knowledge. Chief Wrinn’s tenure and officers has given Brattleboro a fine BPD…no Ferguson here…

        • different places, reactions

Though, Brattleboro did shoot and kill an unarmed man just a few months ago. Not much popular outcry here, though.

          • We may never know...

…the full circumstances of that incident. It’s possible in many departments for something to go wrong. Unlike the Mr. Brown case, it was not reported that Santiago (I think it was?) had his hands raised when he was shot, which is a universal passive sign. The BPD already had an investigation in progress when they confronted the suspect.

The incident in Ferguson had a whole set of different dynamics and is described as “one of the most racially segregated metropolitan areas in the country.” I hope the ensuing investigation can reach a conclusion but it is rife with various eye-witness accounts.
Sadly, I suspect Michael Brown did lose his life unjustly, however.
