Electric vehicle owners living in or visiting Brattleboro now have a new option for charging their cars. The Town of Brattleboro has installed two level 2, 100 amp electric vehicle charging stations on the first level of the Transportation Center at 77 Flat Street. There are three parking spaces reserved for charging electric cars. The State of Vermont will be installing signage directing motorists from Exits 1 and 2 to the stations. These stations are replacing an old obsolete charging station that was installed when the Transportation Center was constructed in 2003.
The stations were made possible by a grant from the Vermont Downtown Program of the Department of Housing and Community Development, and by donations from:
The Brattleboro Food Co-op
Soveren Solar
Brattleboro Ford
Sam’s Outdoor Outfitters
Brattleboro Savings & Loan
Jason Cooper Management
The stations are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are currently free to the public with paid parking.
“This project is consistent with the Brattleboro Town Plan’s goals of promoting renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions”, said Jason Cooper, Brattleboro Energy Committee member. “Electric cars contribute to the local economy while helping keep our green mountains green.”
“We are excited to have these stations installed to meet the needs of the growing number of electric vehicle owners in our region”, said Paul Cameron, Town Energy Coordinator. “This is a wonderful amenity that will attract visitors to our downtown area and support our local economy”.
