The next monthly meeting of the West Brattleboro Association (WBA) will be held at the New England House
on Thursday, June 12th at 6:00 PM. Vermont State Representative Mollie Burke will address issues pertaining to transportation as it relates to West Brattleboro at this gathering. A member of the Vermont legislature since 2008, Mollie currently serves on the Transportation Committee and successfully procured funds for the repaving of Route 9 slated now to be done ahead of the original schedule due to its bad condition. In addition, Burke will discuss pedestrian and bicyclist safety.
Also at this monthly meeting, the group will discuss the recent chicken barbecue held over Memorial Day weekend, the treasurer’s report and several ongoing projects included in the WBA’s 2014 internal planning document including the Neighborhoods Project and the village revitalizing project in conjunction with the West Brattleboro Partners..
In addition, the WBA is still planning to have signs made for entry to West Brattleboro, both from the east and west. Ways to raise the remaining money will be discussed.
The July meeting of the WBA (date TBA) will feature a joint mixer with the Brattleboro Area Chamber
of Commerce. Watch for details in the next couple of weeks.
The purpose of the Association is to promote the thoughtful and effective evolution of the community of West Brattleboro as a place that is safe, healthy, attractive, and prosperous. In the case of the March meeting, the goal is to help West B residents be informed Brattleboro community members. Check out the group’s website at www.westbrattleboro.org or join us at our meetings.
