Actions Taken: At 11:14am Brattleboro Central Dispatch received a call reporting a house fire at 44 Fuller Drive. Engine 3, Engine 4, Ladder 1, Car 1 and Car 2 responded on a first alarm assignment. The Department of Public works was working in the area and advised dispatch of the fire. Engine 3 arrived on the scene at 11:17am, Captain Jason Davis reported a working fire in the basement and a 2nd alarm was struck at 11:19am. A hose line was stretched to the rear of the house, where there was access to the basement, and crews made an interior attack on the fire. Primary and Secondary searches were performed, to find that there was no one home. The fire was contained to the basement with minor smoke damage on the first floor. The incident was reported under control at 11:42am. The cause of the fire was accidental, from improper disposal of wood stove ashes in the basement. The occupants will be able to reoccupy the residence. All Brattleboro units were back in service at 12:58pm.
