In recognition of the fact that everyone is a legitimate stakeholder when it comes to public safety, a committee of citizens is being formed to participate in candidate interviews as one step in the overall process of hiring the next police chief. The Town Manager’s Office will be accepting letters of interest from motivated members of the public for participation in the Police Chief Search – Community Committee.
To get involved send a letter of interest explaining your reason for wanting to participate and please identify any formal affiliations as a professional advocate. Included in your letter should be no more than two questions that you would like to ask the candidates. Participation is open to any citizen of Brattleboro that is willing and able to participate in a confidential hiring process. This means that the names of all candidates, and any discussion that occurs during the process is considered strictly confidential, even after the process has concluded.
A total of seven applicants will be chosen by the town manager to participate in the Police Chief Search – Community Committee. The members of the committee will meet with candidates and ask their questions. The committee members will be asked to share their individual impressions of the candidates in writing, in the following areas: leadership; experience; and, enthusiasm for the position.
If interested, please send a letter of Interest, no later than Wednesday July 9th to the address below.
