Brattleboro. Tyrelle Appleton has joined Vermont Partnership as Interim Director of Marketing for its Vermont African American Heritage Trail Initiative. “Appleton brings crucial expertise in the field of social media to promote the heritage trail to the multicultural marketplace,” notes Curtiss Reed, Jr., executive director of Vermont Partnership for Fairness & Diversity.
More specifically Appleton will use the heritage trail as a platform to promote Vermont as a desirable destination for tourists, convention goers, college students, entrepreneurs, and recreationalists of color. “Appleton will expand our current platform on Facebook and at www.vtafricanamericanheritage.net to include Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, and whatever else there is on the horizon,” continues Reed. In addition, the Vermont African American Heritage Trail Initiative envisions cross promoting cultural tourism and outdoor recreation with dozens of affinity groups of outdoor enthusiasts of color.
The Vermont African American Heritage Trail is a joint collaboration between the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing and Vermont Partnership. Appleton served as a recent guest host of the Department’s Twitter feed at www.twitter.com/thisisvt posting news about the heritage trail. Appleton, originally from Toronto, Canada, is completing his Masters in Business Administration at the College of St. Joseph in Rutland. An avid online gamer, Appleton holds a BBA in Sports Management.
