not sure
I heard this one. Very loud. It seemed like normal hospital helicopter for a moment, but when it got above our place it went low and turned around, then went back over toward the south end of town. Then it was sounding a bit heavier. Didn’t get a clear view of it, though.
It's a drill
I saw and heard the helicopter(s) too, as they circled town for about 15 minutes this morning. Hard to miss something that loud and insistent. But it’s not a real emergency, just a drill, code named Vigilant Guard. This big budget affair is running from July 25 through August 2, according to the VT Digger blog, and has been being planned for about 3 years. The scenario is an infectious disease outbreak “in which thousands of Vermonters are infected and hundreds are dead or dying while hospitals are overwhelmed and medical supplies shipped in by the federal government need to be distributed across the state” — oh boy, sounds fun.
Anyway, that’s what she be. I sure hope we never get to test this one in real life.
Ground Zero = Wilmngton, West on route 9
If anyone wants to see a disaster movie, complete with actors and guard helicopters, wonder over to Wilmington tomorrow.
