What Happened to The Backside Cafe?

  Not sure of the reason but...

  It closed several months ago. I had head they were re opening somewhere on Canal Street but not sure if they did. Haven’t seen any sign for them anywhere.

  The Backside closed at the end of September due to the lengthy economic downturn. However, Matt and company upped digs and opened The Flamingo Diner on Canal Street, home of the former JADs and The Grille – right next to the laundromat.

  I had some good meals at the Backside, but (and it’s a big but), I was disappointed that they never featured the Fanny Farmer recipe for rump roast served on buns.
