"my chevy makes a screeching sound when I turn…"
One of the great radio shows of the last few decades, for certain. It was useful, fun, and funny. Their knowledge and personalities carried it along in a way that made it all seem effortless.
I think part of what made it work so well is that everyone at home could play along, so to speak, and try to come up with a solution based on the symptoms being described. And it was fun to choose sides when the brothers disagreed.
Puzzlers, shameless commerce, Pickupanddropoff, “can you make the sound your car is making?,” Harvard Square jokes, and so on.
I never called in, but have used their web site for reference on a number of occasions, checking over their previous advice to people with similar problems.
Anyone watch their short-lived cartoon series? : )
2001 Interview with Tom & Ray
I’m now listening to a great interview on NPR. I’m sure it will be repeated
