Nice Snow Coming Down in Brattleboro

For the moment, the snow falling outside looks quite wonderful. It’s somewhat heavy looking, falling fast and straight with occasional gusts to blow it around.

I have yet to think too much about shovelling it, and can just appreciate this first covering over of autmn remnants.

Check the local weather for the latest in forecasts, don’t drive unless you absolutely have to, and have a safe and warm Thanksgiving.

  • Heavy snow

I walked up the hill from Forest St around 5 o’clock and the snow was coating everything. Very pretty but a bit weighty. When I got home, I saw that all our trees and shrubs were sagging — I shook some snow off a few of the more fragile ones to try to preserve the limbs. It was still snowing pretty good at that time.

  • Power outages

Still pretty, but the thought of shoveling is starting to sink in. Ugh. It’s the plows going by that remind me of the work that needs to be done.

GMP is showing power outages throughout the southern Vermont region. Our lights are flickering. Most of Dummerston is out.

Stay safe, and get your flashlight handy.

    • Oak Street, too

Our lights have been flickering for the past hour or so. It’s still snowing pretty steadily. So quiet (except for the occasional plow) and very lovely.

    • So far so good

It looks about a foot here, so pretty! Plows have been by, but it seems that everyone else is sensible and in for the night.

      Not a flicker here, thankfully.

  • Snow creature time

We lost power for the amount of time it takes to stumble around and light the lantern and candles, then it popped back on.

Still quite nice looking for the moment… heavy, sculptural, clean… and looks good for snow creatures.

    • Photo Op

We had a couple of flickers but didn’t lose power.

It’s amazing everywhere you look. I’m impressed at how much weight the trees are holding. There has to be 8″ of snow on the apple tree branches across the street, and they’re bowed, but not broken.

Definitely a day for snow creature building!

  • lost power in Guilford

Several areas of Guilford lost power early in the evening yesterday; it stayed off overnight, then came back a couple hours ago here in the Algiers area.

    • cats

And the cat just ventured no further than the top step leading out to the backyard, and sits there perplexed about what to do next.
I guess that’s the end of her outdoor adventures for a while.

      • A path

You might try shoveling a path to the cat’s favorite spot(s).

WE have one who seems to love snow, and another that would prefer sitting inside until spring.

        • Um, thanks but...

…I have plenty enough shovelling to do, the steep driveway down to the road needs to be cleared of 12″ of heavy white stuff before any of our vehicles (or bikes) can get anywhere.
Adding a bit for “my cat’s favorite spots” will not make it onto my list of priorities ! :>)

I’m anyway happier having her snuggled indoors more.

          B.
