Brattleboro Ford announced it is sponsoring a “Drive 4 UR Community” event to benefit the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Emergency Department renovation and expansion project on Sunday, October 27.
From 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM this Sunday, anyone with a valid driver’s license can test drive any Ford vehicle on a track set up in the BMH parking lot, located at 17 Belmont Avenue in Brattleboro, and Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to “The Doorway to Exceptional Care” capital campaign. Free coffee and donuts will be provided in the morning and complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers will be served from 12:00noon to 2:00 PM. An inflatable bouncy house and face-painters will also be on the premises to entertain children during the entire event.
Ford Motor Company launched the “Drive 4 UR Community” program in August, 2012 as a way for local dealerships to support community groups and nonprofit organizations. Brattleboro Ford owner Frank Hanenberger says the dealership hopes to raise $6,000 for BMH.
“We’re really excited to be able to do this for the community,” says Hanenberger, “Even if someone is not planning on buying a car in the near future, we hope they’ll come take a quick drive and make this event a success for the greater good of the hospital that serves not only Brattleboro, but all of southern Vermont.”
BMH is seeking to raise $3.5 million from organizations and individuals in the community for the renovation and expansion of its Emergency Department. Built in 1982, the original facility was designed to accommodate 6,000 visits per year. Last year alone, more than 14,000 patients accessed care through the ED.
